Bio

November 14, 2009

png6I hate writing bios. At least about myself. Or about anyone, really. As if one’s life could be summed up in a few paragraphs. That kind of stuff ought to be left for the eulogies.

I was born in a hospital in Tampere, Finland, in the spring of 1977. What a great year that one was. Apple is incorporated. Jimmy Carter takes office. They get snow down in Miami for the first and so far last time in known history. Two 747s clash in the biggest single aviation disaster to date. Star Wars opens just days after my birth. Freddie Prinze dies. Elvis Presley dies. More aviation incidents. Not a great year for planes or performers.

But then it all changed as a kicking, screaming, red-faced Gemini was introduced into this world via Caesarian section.

Actually, not all that much changed as a result.

I think we’ll fast-forward a couple of decades.

I now live in the United States and am working towards one day becoming a registered nurse. When I was growing up I wanted to be a reporter, and ideally an author as well. At some point I became quite disillusioned with journalism, but my desire to one day publish a novel or two or ten still remains. I like to read, and I absolutely love to write, and believe I have a certain knack for it. I used to write mostly in Finnish, my native language, but these days, what with my home being in Texas now, I do most of my writing in English. It’s challenging, for sure, and there is a lot for me to learn as far as the English language goes, but I know enough to get by.

I have been doing stuff on the Internet for 15 years as of this spring (2009) and it certainly is an interesting place. I have had many personal websites over the last decade, but none of them stuck around for very long. Each time I got done designing a site, I ended up being unhappy with it and wanting to start the design process over. That was when I still had an active interest in HTML (and CSS to some extent) but these days I am just relieved that WordPress has made it possible for a lazy coder like myself to not have to, well, code, and so I can just concentrate on content instead.

This website is intended to serve as my creative outlet and a place where I can post my thoughts and whatnot. I like to think of it as an online representation of myself. To some extent.

Feel free to poke around the site and check out what’s out there. If you think of anything that’s missing and you’d like to see here, drop me a line.
