I’m posting these instructions here as to how to install and successfully run the SMP 64-bit client on Mint 9 or Ubuntu 9.10. These instructions work at the time of writing, are intended only for FAH SMP 64-bit client version 6.29, and on Mint 9 or Ubuntu 9.10.

A couple of days ago, I decided to “switch” to Linux. That is to say, I wiped my Windows partition and decided to give Debian a try. Then after a few hours of fumbling about and trying to install Firefox, I decided I wasn’t ready for such an advanced operating system. So I started from scratch and installed Ubuntu instead.
